What is Bio-Regional Herbalism? – Free Talk
March 28, 2018 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
The wonderful, mysterious, lively entities that provide for all living things. With all the herbs available through health trends, fads, and new research development, it can be difficult to wade through the overload of information available to us. However, when we start to look at herbalism from a bio-regional perspective, we begin to understand that we don’t always need to purchase or cultivate herbs that aren’t native to our local region. Did you know that there are about 3,614 native plants in New Mexico alone, and many of them have medicinal properties or are edible? This class will explore many of the common, and some not so common plants that are bioregionally available from the high mountains to low desert in New Mexico (both native and non-native). We will look at how they can be incorporated into our daily lives through food and medicine following the systems in the body and will touch on some specific herbs that can generally be used to aid us in many of the common ailments we experience.
Free and open to the public.
*Please note this talk is for informational purposes only; when using herbs, it is important to check with your doctor to make sure they don’t interact with any medications or cause potential allergies before preparing yourself or purchasing for use.
