Welcome to Wildcrafting Wednesday! Chaparral! We love chaparral ALMOST as much as oshá. This plant is an incredible shape shifter of a healer. It assists in the healing of virtually all ailments as it has anti-inflammatory, antifungal, antiviral, immune boosting, antioxidant, antitumour, and many many more actions. This herb can be used topically as a sunscreen and post-sun-exposure treatment to heal the affects of UV radiation.
Chaparral is obvious in the wild as it is often found along on dry plains throughout the southwest and northern Mexico.
It is an ancient, rhizomal plant that grows in groups – some chaparral plants are upwards of 10,000 years old!
The plant grows annually in segments that can be easily harvested and infused in oil or alcohol as a potent first-aid.
Lastly, our favourite thing about this plant is that it grows abundantly and can be harvested all-year round!
P.s. some call this plant creosote.
